37 Indian deep technology innovations are being showcased at the ‘Bharat Innovates Exposition’ at the Bharat Mandapam here from September 11-12 on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, officials said on Friday (Sep 11, 2026).
An advanced floating solar photovoltaic platform for complex water bodies, a full-scale marine robotic platform for critical infrastructure inspection, a rare-earth-free e-propulsion unit, an artificial intelligence cervical cancer screening that provides risk assessment in less than 60 seconds and an artificial intelligence fetal monitoring platform are among the novelties on display at the exhibition organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in coordination with the MEA Ministry of External Affairs.
Flagship program
Bharat Innovates is the flagship program of the MoE. It is designed as a global accelerator of innovation from the Indian higher education ecosystem – building long-term collaboration between the Indian innovation ecosystem (start-ups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks) and global stakeholders (firms, investors, incubators or accelerators, universities, research institutes, governments and foreign alumni).
“The BRICS Bharat Innovates (BBI) exhibition at the Bharat Mandapam marks the second major exhibition of Indian deep-tech startups in 2026 after the first edition of Bharat Innovates held in Nice, France from June 14 to 16, 2026,” the environment ministry said in a statement.
“BBI is featuring 37 Indian deep technology startups/enterprises (from the original cohort of 120 startups or enterprises that participated in BI2026, Nice), in line with the theme of India’s BRICS Presidency – ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability,'” the company said.
The possibility of networking
Held in conjunction with the BRICS Business Forum, the exhibition provides participating innovators with the opportunity to meet CEOs, investors, business leaders and industry representatives from BRICS member countries. This will facilitate opportunities for B2B engagements, technology partnerships, investment discussions, business linkages and international market access.
It also advances the BRICS Education Track priority “Improving Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems”, one of the five priority areas identified under India’s 2026 BRICS Chairmanship.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the BBI exhibition. Senior Indian and international delegates involved in the engagement of BRICS leaders as well as CEOs, investors and business leaders from BRICS member countries are also expected to visit the exhibition,” the statement said.
For participating start-ups or innovators, the BBI Exposition offers a high-profile platform to transform domestic innovation into international business and diplomatic outcomes, including direct access to BRICS CEOs and investors, Heads of State, B2B meetings and structured matchmaking facilitated in coordination with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM, and brand and diplomat credibility.
The first edition of Bharat Innovates 2026 was held as part of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and was jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Bharat Innovates 2026 showcased India’s deep technology ecosystem and highlighted India’s growing innovation ecosystem by showcasing 120 Indian innovators, over 15 higher education institutions and over 500 global stakeholders, including global CEOs, industry leaders and leading venture capital firms.
The event highlighted advances in 13 key sectors, including advanced computing, semiconductors, space technology, biotechnology, energy, healthcare and manufacturing.
