The Delhi Traffic Police has imposed strict traffic restrictions during the 18th BRICS summit to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. Several world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, will gather at the Bharat Mandapam to attend the event.
Following the spectacular event, the Delhi Police imposed traffic restrictions from September 11 to September 13. However, the police have published frequently asked questions (FAQs) to ensure smooth travel and avoid confusion about traffic routes during these days.

1. Will all of Delhi remain closed during the summit?
No. Nine hotels are on the list and traffic has been restricted on routes around them. These routes include Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Marg and Mathura roads.
2. What does Delhi Traffic Advisory inform people about?
How to get to the airport? How to get to the station? Which routes will be affected? These questions are answered by the Delhi Traffic Advisory issued to the public ahead of the BRICS summit. Routes have been designed for railway stations and airports in Delhi. He says:

3. Do you have a flight to catch? How to travel to the airport?
The Delhi Traffic Police said traffic regulations may affect your journey to the airport if you plan to travel between September 11 and 13. In their advisory to those who need to catch a flight from Delhi between Friday (September 11) and Sunday (September 13), the police said:

5. What will the taxi/taxi services be like during the summit?
Police said they had a meeting with officials from taxi services like Ola, Uber, Bharat Taxi and Rapido. The official said there will be no pick-up/drop-off services in the restricted areas and alternative routes will be used instead.
6. Will information about traffic restrictions, diversions and alternative routes be available in Google Maps and Mappls Apps?
The police clarified that real-time information will be shared with navigation apps such as Google Maps and Mappls Apps, with which the police have a tie-up. During the BRICS summit, people will get real-time advisory updates.
7. Will DTC and other public transport services be affected during BRICS summit?
Delhi Police has already shared its traffic plan with DTC. DTC has been directed to develop its own traffic diversion plan. DTC buses will run on authorized routes between September 11 and 13. Detours will be in place in areas with limited traffic.
8. Can there be traffic restrictions in parts of Delhi other than Delhi? Can restrictions be imposed on any market area or tourism sites?
Yes. Traffic regulations may apply for a short period on the route/area concerned if foreign Heads of State/Government, their spouses or delegates plan to visit any place in Delhi, including market places or iconic places. The public will be guided along alternative routes and an advisory will be issued accordingly.
9. How will the movement of non-designated vehicles and basic commodity vehicles arriving from border areas proceed?
Vehicles that are not designated will be restricted. Essential trucks will be supported at the border and allowed to enter Delhi.
10. Will emergency services (firefighters, ambulance) and medical traffic be affected?
No. There is a strict recommendation for any medical emergency.
