The Delhi Police has arrested Sudhansha, one of the operators of ‘Hostel Daze’ (PG), a paying guest facility run from a five-storey building that collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area on September 6, killing seven people, including five students.
The five-story building was operated by two business partners who leased the property in August 2025. One of the operators is still on the run.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police is investigating the circumstances that led to the collapse and the roles of those associated with the building’s ownership, maintenance, repairs and operation of the PG.

Sudhanshu was arrested by the Delhi Police as one of the operators of the ‘Hostel Daze’ PG facility operating from the building that collapsed resulting in seven deaths.

Delhi Police arrested Sudhansha, one of the two business partners running the PG facility from the building. Two operators, the other being Shubham Tyagi, leased the property in August 2025. Shubham remains at large.
Police had earlier arrested property owner Hariram Bansal (81) and his wife Urmila Gupta (75) along with their 52-year-old son Mahesh Gupta. The couple was sent to 14-day judicial custody, while Mahesh was taken to two-day police custody.
Mahesh’s police custody ends on Wednesday and he is being taken from the South Campus police station to be produced before the court. According to the ANI report, the construction contractor and the mason are also being taken to court.
The police had earlier arrested a laborer, Sanoj, from Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj. He allegedly supervised repairs in the basement of the building.
Delhi CM orders bulldozer against illegal constructions
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has ordered the MCD to demolish the adjacent building as it is in a dilapidated condition.
In a post on X, Delhi CMO CMO wrote, “On the instructions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the MCD has been directed to demolish the dilapidated building adjacent to the accident site in the interest of public safety. The belongings of students inside the building are being safely removed by Delhi Fire Service personnel in a systematic manner. All students and local residents are requested to cooperate with the authorities.”

What the police found out about the repairs
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (South West) Amit Goel, the basement was undergoing repairs for eight to 10 days as garbage accumulated during the rainy season. The ground floor was also repaired and extended for commercial purposes.
How PG worked
The police found seven rooms spread over four floors – two each on the first, second and third floors and one on the fourth floor. A room on the fourth floor has been partially converted into one-room accommodation for three students. There were two shops and a cellar on the ground floor.
PG was operated under the name ‘Hostel Daze’. The officer said that at least three other PG establishments operating under the same name were operating in the neighborhood before the collapse.

Supreme Court to review the issue
The Supreme Court has indicated that it will look into the Satya Niketan PG building collapse issue on an all-India basis, ANI further reported. A bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R Mahadevan posted the matter for hearing on Thursday.
This comes after senior advocate Ajit Sinha, the court-appointed amicus curiae in an earlier matter related to the apex court’s compliance with illegal buildings and structures across the country, mentioned the tragedy.
Seven people, including five students, died after a five-storey building collapsed on Sunday afternoon. Several others were injured.
