Erin Piacenti, 32, killed in Times Square stabbing: What we know about Bank of America vice president | Today’s news
On Monday (local time), a woman who was a lawyer working for Bank fo America died in Times Square in New York. According to multiple media reports, she was attacked when she was only one block away from her workplace.
The victim was later identified by the NYPD as Erin Piacenti, 32.
Bank of America later released a statement from its spokesman, John Yiannacopoulos, expressing its condolences on her death.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” BoA said in a statement to the Associated Press.
The attacker, Pamela Cisneros, 49, had two kitchen knives in each hand when she stabbed her first victim – a 68-year-old man who was visiting his son in Brooklyn with his wife.
Cisneros stabbed him in the stomach as he exited the subway on West 41st Street. The elderly man is currently stable in hospital.
After stabbing him, Cisneros went to 42nd Street, where she stabbed Piacenti, according to a New York Post report.
Who Was Erin Piacenti?
Erin Piancenti was a 32-year-old Bank of America vice president in the Business Selection & Conflicts division, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She received her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law after receiving her BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Fordham Law also released a statement after her death saying it was heartbroken by the tragedy.
According to a report in People magazine, Piacenti recently celebrated her wedding anniversary with her husband, who is also a lawyer.
The publication cited property records to reveal the couple bought their first home in Chester, New Jersey, in September 2025.
The attacker had a number of mental problems
Patrick Peralta, the attacker’s brother, told the Gothamist newspaper that she has had psychiatric problems for a number of years, but she was not violent. She was a divorced mother of three and on medication. She also worked constantly at a law office, her brother said, adding that he last saw her at a relative’s birthday party.
He also told the paper that she missed family dinners last week but called their mother on Saturday to say she was fine.
Just two days later, on Monday, he saw the news from Times Square.
“We really don’t know how to express ourselves or how to explain why this happened,” Peralta told Gothamist, expressing his condolences to the victims.
