CJP applauds JP Nadda’s comments on student activists: Social media reacts: “Is this an undeclared emergency?” | Today’s news
JP Nadda played it down when he talked about the arrests of students during the protests. He talked about his days as a student leader.
“When I was a student activist, I was arrested many times from my class during the Emergency when the Congress party was in power. Such circumstances are part of the journey of a student activist,” the Health and Welfare Minister said in Parliament.
Ashutosh Ranka took a sharp dig at Nadda’s comments. A CJP spokesperson asked, “Are you saying that the country has not progressed one iota in the last 50 years?”
Ranko’s dry humor draws a lot of comments on social media.
“He says it was perfectly normal during the Emergency. So it’s perfectly normal now. Hence the unannounced Emergency,” came the sarcastic reply.
“Does it indicate that we are now in an undeclared emergency?” another user chimed in.
One user commented: “Now the true colors are showing.”
The comments come as students across the country are reportedly being arrested. Many videos on social media show individual students being either harassed or beaten up for participating in the Jantar Mantar protest.

Saurav Das warns the Center
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das strongly criticized the Supreme Court’s interim order on the PIL regarding the CJP’s protest. According to him, Direction No. 4 raises serious concerns. According to him, this direction is contrary to the government’s assurance of July 25.
The Center has promised to withdraw the FIR against the protesters. It also promised not to target participants in the movement. According to Das, the CJP withdrew its protest based on this assurance.
Saurav Das warned that the government could weaponize the SC order. This, he said, could allow continued harassment of protesters. He called this concern valid from the very beginning of the protest.
Das also criticized the government for not opposing the ordinance. Considering these contexts, he called the court order “completely unacceptable”. Das cited Bihar and Assam as examples of this approach. He said the court did not order the prosecution to continue. The CJP has already planned its course of action if the center does not stop targeting the protesting students.
“…the cockroach Janta party will have no choice but to renew its nationwide protest to protect the students and young protesters who stood up not only for themselves but for the future of this nation. A government that breaks its word cannot expect the youth to remain silent. If the assurances are dishonoured, the streets of India will once again become the voice of its youth,” Das said.
