
A special investigation team team (SIT) established by the TELANGANY government to explore online betting on online betting, took place the first meeting under the supervision of the CEO (CID) Shikha Goel.
The five -member SIT was tasked with conducting a thorough and time -bound investigation of all online betting cases. They are also expected to assess the ecosystem of online betting to identify factors that allow such activities and suggest reforms to reduce them. The SIT is assuming that it evaluates the legal provisions and recommends regulations to avoid organizing, promoting and advertising online bets and games.
The meeting was attended by the General Inspector of the Police (provisions and logistics) M. Ramesh, the Superintendent of the Police (news) Sindhu Sharma, the superintendant of police economic crimes (EOW) CID K. Venko Lakshmi, another superintendent of the police S. Chandrakanth and police representative, Cid M. Shanker.
SIT ordered all investigative officers who had processed online betting on Telangana to bring case files and relevant details in the prescribed format to review the Hyderabad State Police headquarters. SIT plans to explore ongoing investigation, formulate standard operational procedures (SOP) and provide instructions to officers. Further discussions will take place with other agencies of the parties.
All government authorities and agencies in Telangana were asked to extend full cooperation on SIT. The team is expected to submit their final report within 90 days to the government through the General Police Director Jitender.
