Tamil Nadu’s merchandise exports to rise to USD 58.95 billion by 2025-26: Union Commerce Minister

Tamil Nadu has remained the country’s third largest exporting state for the third consecutive year from the financial year 2023-24, with exports worth USD 58.95 billion in 2025-26, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday.

In response to a starred question in Parliament by G. Selvam and Rani Srikumar, Lok Sabha members from Kancheepuram and Tenkasi respectively, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that Tamil Nadu accounts for 33.38% of India’s exports of motor vehicles and automobiles, 23.13% of electronics products, 3% of textiles and all 41i. 35.59% leather and leather goods manufacturers and 16.66% engineering goods in FY 2025-26. Tamil Nadu’s share of India’s electronics exports rose from 32.84% in 2023–24 to 38% in 2024–25, before further increasing to 41.63% in 2025–26.

Tamil Nadu’s total merchandise exports rose from US$ 43.22 billion in 2023-24 to US$ 51.83 billion in 2024-25 before increasing further to US$ 58.95 billion in 2025-26, according to data provided by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Goyal said that between the fiscal years 2014-15 and 2025-26, 94 projects involving an investment of ₹ 12,523 crore have been implemented in major ports of Tamil Nadu to strengthen export infrastructure.
