Bengaluru Airport: An Ahmedabad-bound IndiGo flight from Bengaluru faced a delay of over five hours after a suspected bomb was found on board at the Kempegowda International Airport. The triggering of the security alert prompted an investigation, which was declared a hoax, according to news agency ANI.

Hoax bomb threat at Kempegowda International Airport

Airline sources reportedly confirmed the bomb threat to the news agency as a hoax.

The incident took place on Thursday evening. As per the latest update, IndiGo flight 6E 6423 was scheduled to depart for Ahmedabad at 8 PM.

After the note was found, the flight was said to have been immediately grounded for a security check. According to a Deccan Herald report, the ticket read “Don’t Bomb Hai!” It was reportedly discovered by the crew.

“A fake bomb was discovered on IndiGo flight 6E 6423 (BLR-AMD) scheduled for departure at 8:00 pm. All standard operating procedures and security protocols were strictly followed,” airline sources told the news agency.

The Deccan Herald added that a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) has been set up to investigate the matter.

After a search, the threat was declared a hoax and was labeled “non-specific”.

FIR registered

Based on the complaint, a first information report (FIR) was registered on Friday. “An investigation has been initiated,” GK Mithun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) told reporters.

“The threat has caused significant disruption and concern for the safety of our passengers, crew and the airline. We request your assistance in investigating this incident and conducting a thorough investigation to identify the person responsible and take appropriate legal action,” the police complaint said, as reported by the Deccan Herald.

The grounded flight finally departed for Ahmedabad at 1:21 am on Friday.
