Amazon India’s renewal project is expected to increase the lake’s surface area from less than one acre to 21 acres after completion.
Amazon, together with Saytrees, a local environmental organization, is working to restore Yamare lake, which has experienced significant degradation, partly because of its past use as a area of waste disposal.
“The aim of the effort to rejuvenate is to expand the water body from the current size of 0.6 acres to approximately 21 hectares. The aim of this project is not only to transform the Yamare lake into a prosperous ecosystem, but also to significantly improve the availability of water and infiltration of groundwater.
“Effective business management can be a converter of games to save not only our water departments, but also our communities that rely on their livelihoods. By accepting responsible water management and investment in community development projects, we can play a crucial role in ensuring our people’s well -being and our planet.
Given that Karnataka experienced one of the worst drought in four decades last year, Bengaluru’s water became an urgent challenge. Through such local efforts Amazon intends to contribute to long -term water safety in the region.
Amazon, in cooperation with Saytrees, a local environmental organization, plans to add more than 270 liters of water to use the local community every year.
“As soon as this project is completed, the Amazon will help to make progress towards its plan to return more water to the communities in India than it uses by 2027,” Amazon said.
