
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk products under the Amul brand, and Mother Dairy have increased milk prices by ₹2 per litre, with the revised rates coming into effect on the 14th.
The company cited rising input costs as the reason for the hike. The rise in milk prices is expected to increase food inflationary pressure and affect the budgets of middle-class households. The last price increase took place on May 1, 2025.
Mother Dairy raises milk prices by ₹2 per liter
While Amul announced the hike across India, Mother Dairy said the increase is partly to offset rising input costs.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the company said the revised prices for its liquid milk variants will take effect on May 14, 2026. The previous price revision was done in late April 2025.
“The revision was necessary in view of the sustained increase in purchase prices for farmers, by approximately 6 percent over the past year, despite ongoing efforts to limit the impact on consumers,” it said.
Mother Dairy said this price revision represents only a partial pass-through of increased costs and is aimed at “maintaining a fair balance between the welfare of farmers and the interests of consumers”.

The GCMMF said in a statement that it “increased the prices of fresh bag milk by ₹2 per liter in major milk/pack variants across India with effect from May 14”.
The increase translates to around 2.5-3.5 per cent per litre, which is less than average food inflation, he added.
“The rise in prices is due to an increase in the overall cost of milk operations and production. There is a substantial increase in the cost of cattle feed, milk packaging film and fuel during the year,” the GCMMF said.
The cooperative said its member unions have also increased the procurement price of farmers ₹30 per kg of fat, which is 3.7 percent more than in May 2025.

Revised Breast Milk Prices in NCR
In the National Capital Region (NCR), Mother Dairy has revised milk prices across categories and increased toned milk (over-the-counter) to ₹58 per liter from ₹56, while whole (pouched) milk costs now ₹72 per litre.
Toned milk (pouched) has been increased to ₹60 from ₹Price 58 per litre, two-coloured milk ₹54 per liter and cow’s milk increased to ₹62 per liter from ₹60 per liter.

The company also reported strong business growth, with turnover up 17 percent ₹20,300 crore in the last fiscal, driven by higher demand for dairy products and cooking oils. Established in 1974, Mother Dairy is a wholly owned subsidiary of NDDB.
Amul Milk Prices Revised in Delhi-NCR, UP
As per the revised prices in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh, a 500 ml pack of Amul Slim N milk will now cost ₹27, Taaza ₹30, cow’s milk ₹31 and Golden Milk ₹36. The price of buffalo milk was increased by ₹4 per liter up to ₹80.
The GCMMF said that under its policy, nearly 80 paise of every rupee spent by consumers on milk and milk products will be passed on to milk producers. The federation said the latest price revision will help ensure better returns for dairy farmers and encourage higher milk production.
The federation also reported strong business growth, with Amul’s total brand turnover increasing by 11 per cent in the 2025-26 financial year to cross the ₹1,000,000 million crowns, driven by the growing demand for dairy products.

GCMMF’s turnover increased by 11.4 percent to ₹73,450 million crowns ₹65,911 crore in the previous fiscal year.
GCMMF is considered to be the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, with approximately 3.6 million farmers affiliated.
The federation sells Amul milk and milk products in more than 50 countries, collects nearly 31 million liters of milk daily and distributes over 24 billion packs of products annually, including milk, butter, cheese, ghee and ice cream.
