Netizens react
Meanwhile, the launch of the ice cream has left netizens with mixed feelings.
In response to the news, many commented on X’s viral post. One of them wrote: “100% cruelty free made purely from milk produced by cows that were rescued from farmers who exploited them for their milk.”
“His idea of doing social, charity work etc is only to build and promote his brand. No sincerity in doing good, caring and useful work. It’s all for money. He’s a real businessman, nothing else,” added another.
Another said: “Why are you launching Vantara Creamery now? Vantara has already saved thousands of animals and Anant has huge money from Reliance. India needs more technology and R&D, not another snack brand when Reliance is already in telecom, retail and energy.”
Someone else also joked: “I’m very skeptical of the ingredients used. I’m not going anywhere near that ice cream.”
Some people on the Internet also supported the brand. One of them commented, “It’s good that new Indian companies are coming into this area to deal with foreign brands.”
Another said: “Vantara entering consumer brands through ice cream was definitely not on the bingo card in 2026.”
Another commented: “This reflects how emerging brands are combining lifestyle and premium experiences and expanding beyond their core identity to tap into urban markets in India.”

O Vantara
For the uninitiated, Vantara is a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation initiative backed by Anant Ambani, who is the son of Reliance Industries Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani. In this project, several animal rescue works are being carried out in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Spanning nearly 3,000 acres, Vantara is supported by the Reliance Foundation and bills itself as “one of the world’s largest centers for wildlife rescue, care and protection”. The facility currently houses more than 1.5 thousand rescued, threatened and endangered animals belonging to more than 2,000 species, according to the official website.
Recently, Anant Ambani made headlines for adopting hippos that came from those introduced to Colombia by drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

He asked the Colombian government to allow a “safe, science-led translocation that would bring 80 animals to a permanent home” in Vantara, instead of killing them.
Vantara is already home to 100 elephants, as well as 50 bears, 160 tigers, 200 lions, 250 leopards and 900 crocodiles, among others, according to AFP.
