The Election Commission of India (EC) on Saturday (May 2, 2026) appointed 165 more counting observers and 77 police observers to count the votes polled during the West Bengal Assembly elections on May 4.
“Additional census observers and police observers have been deployed to ensure that the census is conducted in a safe, peaceful, non-intimidating and transparent environment,” the Commission said in a press release.
