A sudden spell of summer rain coupled with strong winds caused widespread damage in parts of Thrissur district on Saturday afternoon, with significant destruction reported at the Koodalmanikyam temple in Irinjalakuda.
A massive pandal erected as part of an ongoing temple festival collapsed in the strong wind. A podium erected in front of the structure also collapsed under the impact. The roof tiles of the temple’s oottupura were blown off adding to the damage.
