The Union government estimating changes in the number of seats in Parliament before forming the delimitation commission is a clear violation of constitutional principles, former MP VS Ugrappa said in Belagavi on Tuesday.
“Several Union ministers are going around saying that the number of seats in Parliament will be increased to 850 and the number of seats in Karnataka will be increased to 42 and so on. The Union Home Minister has read out a list of revised figures relating to South India and other states. Even journalists and TV anchors are discussing such figures. Who gave them these figures? If so, where is the delimitation commission?” he asked.
