The opening of one of the rooms at the JDT Islam complex at Vellimadukunna in Kozhikode city where the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used for the recently concluded Assembly elections are kept has created a controversy on Monday.
EVMs from six assembly segments in the district are stored in the JDT premises. While the United Democratic Front (UDF) alleged that one of the vaults housing the EVMs was opened in an “unauthorized manner”, officials denied the allegations and said the room, which contained only election materials, was opened with the knowledge of political party operatives to collect data to update the polling software.
