D. Anand, who retired as Professor in the Department of Business Administration Studies at BN Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS), University of Mysore, was accorded a warm and emotional farewell at a program in Mysore on Tuesday.
Prof. Having served the university for over 36 years at Manasagangotri, Anand has held several key positions, including the leadership of the College Development Council, the International Center and various academic committees. He was blessed in the presence of colleagues, family members, students and supporters, many of whom now hold important positions.
Vice-Chancellor NK Lokanath described Professor Anand as a popular teacher among students and noted that several of his protégés went on to hold important roles, including within the university.
He highlighted the uniqueness of this occasion and said that the farewell was organized by the students of Prof. Ananda. “He is a passionate teacher and a role model for many. With his leadership qualities, I would like to see him as vice-chancellor, although he never sought the position,” he noted, urging him to continue to contribute to the university after his retirement.
Acting CFO SJ Manjunath in his welcome address recalled his association with Professor Anand as a teacher, guide and colleague and shared his experience of working under his mentorship at the institute.
Senior Professor B. Shivaraj also spoke on the occasion and appreciated Professor Anand’s contribution to academia.
