As many as 127 of the 327 civil police trainees who have graduated from the Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) are engineering graduates who hold BE degrees.
Part of the 46th batch of the academy graduated at a ceremony held at the academy on Sunday (March 29). They underwent 14 months of training, which began in January 2025.
While 143 interns have completed their degrees in various fields, another 56 are graduate students holding a Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc) or Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. One trainee completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree.
While 79 newly recruited police sub-inspectors are in service, 12 are ex-servicemen and 30 are in other government services. A total of 206 members are fresher according to the KPA.
Meanwhile, 90 of the 327 trainees are women and 237 are men. When it comes to marriage, 254 are bachelors.
Age group
While 190 trainees belong to the youngest age group, i.e. 25 to 29 years, of which 138 are men and 58 are women, 80 trainees belong to the 30-34 age group, of which 61 are men and 19 are women.
Another 34 trainees, of which 22 men and 12 women, belong to the age group of 35-39 years, 16 trainees, of which 15 men and one woman, are in the age group of 40-44 years. One man belongs to the age group of 45-50 years.
While Belagavi accounted for the highest number of trainees at 51 (out of a total of 327 trainees), Kodagu and Udupi had the least representation, one each.
Other districts that represented high number of interns were Bagalkot and Vijayapura with 31 and 33 respectively. Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada represented only two interns while Bengaluru Rural and Dharwad represented three interns each.
