Thungathurthy Congress MLA Mandula Samuel on Sunday expressed regret over his recent comments that had sparked a political storm, particularly drawing sharp criticism from BJP leaders who accused him of making derogatory remarks against Hindu dharma and the Brahmin community.
In a statement, the MLA clarified that he never intended to hurt religious sentiments. “I did not speak ill of the Brahmins. However, if my remarks hurt them, I am sorry. If any of my words caused pain, I retract them,” he said. He further alleged that the BJP was trying to politicize the issue. He added that he along with the Brahmins had played a significant role in the initial stages of the Telangana movement and declared that he intended to end the dispute.
