Pune realtor murder: Siya Goyal gives ‘sit down’ signal to Chetan Chaudhary to oust Ketan Agarwal from Lohagad stronghold | Today’s news
Siya Goyal, the 20-year-old woman arrested for murdering Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, allegedly signaled her lover to push his fiancee out of Lohagad Fort, police said on Sunday. According to investigators, Siya sat down to signal Chetan and also made sure she stayed out of Ketan Agarwal’s reach during the fall.
A police officer told PTI that the pair had agreed that Siya would give a signal by sitting down, after which Chetan was to come and push Ketan to death.
“Siya sat down was the signal”
The two decided to sit down either to drink water or under the pretense of tying their shoelaces. The signal was to sit down, the official said.

“The signal was chosen deliberately so that Siya was out of reach of the victim during the fatal push. They feared that if Chetan pushed Ketan and he tried to catch Siya as she fell, she might also fall into the ravine. The plan was made keeping her safety in mind,” an officer told PTI.
Careful planning of the murder
Earlier in the day, a team from Pune Rural Police took Siya to Lohagad Fort to recreate the crime scene. The police also revealed that Siya and Chetan had carefully planned and rehearsed the crime before 26-year-old Ketan was pressed from an isolated spot in Lohagad Fort on June 18.
According to the police, this includes covering their tracks by deleting WhatsApp chats and traveling on a scooter to avoid detection at the toll plaza.

“Chetan was traveling to Lohgad Fort on the morning of June 18. He preferred the scooter to the car as he feared that the car might be detected at the toll booth,” the official said.
The accused also left the phone at his store and was using an employee’s phone at the time. According to the police, this was another attempt to mislead by showing the location of his cell tower at a remote location at the time of the crime.
Chetan was also wearing a hooded sweatshirt that covered his face after arriving at the fort.
“He climbed the fort wearing a hoodie. He later took it off and remained in a black T-shirt. He put the hoodie back on when he left,” the official said, adding that investigators believe it was done to avoid attracting attention.
Siya did not want to marry Ketan
According to reports, Siya confessed to the police that they planned the murder because she did not want to marry Ketan. Siya reportedly told the police that she did not want the marriage to be annulled as she feared it would bring her family into disrepute.

Ketan and Siya got engaged in February and were set to get married this November. According to the police, the Agarwals and the Goyals met through another business family.
Betrayed by Our Own People : Ketan’s family
Devichand Agarwal, Ketan’s grandfather, said, “We were betrayed by our own people whom we had known for several years.”
Devichand Agarwal said he believes Siya Goyal’s family pressured her to agree to marry Ketan Agarwal.
“We want the police to investigate all those responsible for this wedding. These two accused, Siya and Chetan, should get the death penalty,” he said at a candlelight march for justice for Ketan on Saturday.
