CBI arrests senior IAS officer Pankaj Aggarwal in Haryana-IDFC First Bank case | Today’s news
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested IAS officer Pankaj Aggarwal, who was then serving as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Agriculture, in connection with alleged misappropriation of government funds from accounts belonging to Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad (HSSPP) and Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board (HSAMB).
The accounts were maintained at IDFC First Bank Sector 32 branch in Chandigarh.
Aggarwal is expected to be produced in court on Tuesday. The CBI took over the investigation at the request of the Haryana government.
According to the agency’s investigation, the accounts were allegedly opened in violation of the existing guidelines issued by the Haryana Finance Department and subsequently funds in excess of the prescribed limits were transferred to them.
