Haryana govt fund drain: 15 named in first CBI chargesheet in $504 million case – who are they? | Today’s news

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed its first charge sheet in the court of a special judge in Panchkula, Haryana, in connection with the large-scale misappropriation of Haryana government funds involving officials of IDFC First Bank and AU Small Finance Bank.

As many as 15 people have been charged, according to a CBI statement. They were:

1. Six bank officials of IDFC First Bank and AU Small Finance Bank

2. Three public servants of Haryana Government belonging to Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd., Development and Panchayat Deptt. and Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad.

3. Two shell entities together with their three partners/directors and one private individual.

“All the accused persons are currently in custody. They have been charged with offenses including criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, destruction of evidence and offenses under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988,” the statement said.

The complaint was filed by Inspector Amit Kumar of the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Panchkula. At present, the accused in the CBI FIR are being kept as unknown and further identification is expected during the course of investigation, the report said.

What happened?

The case concerns the alleged embezzlement of government funds 504 crore, allegedly siphoned from the bank accounts of various Haryana government departments by bank officials in “criminal connivance with government officials posted in the respective departments”.

The case was initially registered by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Haryana and was subsequently handed over to the CBI for investigation.

According to the FIR registered by Department III. the Economic Offenses Wing of the CBI in Delhi on 8 April, the case was re-registered after obtaining approval from both the Government of Haryana and the Government of India to extend the agency’s jurisdiction to investigate the matter originally registered as FIR No. 04 dated 23 February 2026, at the state police station AntichkuCorruption and Antichkula Burruption and release. according to ANI.

The FIR invoked provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including criminal breach of trust, forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy.

Officials said the investigation concerns serious allegations of systematic diversion of government funds through fraudulent financial operations and fictitious transactions, the report said.

According to ANI, investigators have named several entities allegedly linked to the scam, including Swastik Desh Project, SRR Planning Gurus Pvt. Ltd., Cap Co Fintech Services and RS Traders, along with other associated firms and individuals suspected of running shell accounts to siphon off public money.
