US forces lift blockade of Iranian ports, say they will ‘remain in general area…’ | Today’s news
US forces on Thursday lifted a naval blockade of Iranian ports after more than two months of preventing ships from sailing to or from the Islamic republic, the US military said.
“Today, U.S. forces lifted the blockade of all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iran’s ports and coastal areas,” U.S. Central Command said in a post on X, adding that U.S. warships “will remain in the general area to ensure compliance with all aspects of the agreement.”
Here’s what Trump said
US President Donald Trump said the deal with Iran to end the war was a “victory” for the United States, dismissing mounting criticism, including from some members of his own Republican Party.
“There is no $300 billion payment to Iran by the US. This is fake news! All the US has is success, lower oil prices and victory. Look at the stock market. Dumocrat propaganda is at play!!!” Trump said this in a post on his social network Truth.
