Speaking on the Bihar Assembly election results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the results taught a lesson that people’s aspirations from the government are very high and they trust political parties with good intentions.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Nitish Kumar registered a landslide victory in the Bihar polls. The NDA secured 202 seats out of 243, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party, winning 89 seats.

1. Prime Minister Modi delivered the sixth Ramnath Goenka lecture here: “The Bihar election results have once again taught a lesson about the high aspirations and ambitions of the people of India.”
2. He added, “People of India today trust those political parties who have good intentions and fulfill people’s aspirations and prioritize development. One needs to be always in emotional mode to work for people, not in electoral mode to win elections.”
3. “I strongly urge state governments to encourage the spirit of healthy competition by attracting investment and promoting growth. Holding competitions to facilitate business could be a great step in this direction,” he said.

4. The PM also pointed to the huge success of the ruling NDA in the Bihar assembly elections and said, “We are winning elections because we are committed to development and welfare 24/7.”
5. He said that in 2022, the European crisis has significantly disrupted global energy supply chains and markets, affecting economies around the world. Despite these challenges, India’s economy has shown strong momentum, achieving robust growth in 2022-23.
6. In 2023, even as the situation worsened in West Asia, India’s growth rate remained resilient. This year, amid continued global volatility, India continues to maintain a growth rate of around seven percent.

7. “At a time when the world is grappling with uncertainty and fears of disruption, India is charting a path to a vibrant and promising future. India is not just an emerging market, it is also an emerging model,” said PM Modi.
8. “Ramnath Ji has often been described as an impatient man, not in a negative sense but in a positive sense. His impatience was the kind that drives change, the kind that incites movement in stagnant waters. In a similar vein, he embodies this constructive impatience in India today. India is eager for progress, restless to achieve development and determined to become reliable,” the PM added.

9. PM Modi urged states to focus on development and compete on parameters like ease of doing business. “Whether it is the central government or state governments led by regional parties, their primary focus should be on development. I strongly urge state governments to encourage the spirit of healthy competition by attracting investment and promoting growth. Holding competitions to facilitate business could be a great step in that direction,” he said.
10. “Our GDP is growing at nearly seven per cent despite global instability. India is not only an emerging market but also an emerging model. Naxalism and Maoist terrorism are on the decline across the country. Surprisingly, however, these forces seem to be gaining strength within the Congress Party. In the last five decades, almost every major state in India that has given Congress Tragic shelter has faced Naxalism. ideologies that have openly rejected India’s constitution, PM Modi said.
