Taiwan’s presidency has accused China of stoking tensions with Japan for political advantage, hours after Chinese naval authorities announced plans to conduct missile exercises in the Yellow Sea. China’s Maritime Safety Administration has issued a navigational warning that the People’s Liberation Army will launch live ammunition missiles in the central Yellow Sea from Tuesday to Thursday, The Taipei Times reported.
According to The Taipei Times, China also issued a travel warning on Friday saying Chinese nationals in Japan face increasing criminal risks, an advisory widely seen as retaliation for comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. During the parliamentary session, Takaichi stated that China’s naval blockade of Taiwan could be classified as a “survival-threatening situation” for Japan, potentially activating its self-defense mechanisms.
