
In a disturbing incident, a 22-year-old man’s stomach was slit and his fingers chopped off after an argument in Kanpur, reports said on Sunday.
According to NDTV and News18 reports, the youth, a law student, was admitted to a local hospital in a critical condition.
The first-year law student needed 14 stitches in his head and is fighting for his life, NDTV reported, citing police personnel.
The student has been identified as Abhijeet Singh Chandel, a first-year law student from Kanpur University.
A heated argument turns deadly
The incident occurred when Chanel became involved in a heated argument with a medical store worker, police said.
According to reports, the argument started over the prices of medicines and soon flared up to turn into a full-blown fight between the student and the shopkeeper, who was identified as Amar Singh.
Soon after, Amar Singh called his brother Vijay Singh and two others – Prince Raj Srivastava and Nikhil, who arrived at the spot.

Four men attacked the student and aimed for his head as he fell with blood running down his face.
The assailants overpowered the Kanpur law student and hit him in the stomach. They then proceeded to cut the abdomen with a sharp object, News18 reported, citing the police.
When Chandel managed to get up and run to his house screaming for help, the attackers caught him and cut off two fingers on one hand.
Hearing the screams of the students, local residents rushed to save him. However, the accused fled the spot as soon as they heard people coming.

The case was filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway in this matter.
6-year-old killed in Kanpur
The shocking incident comes days after another disturbing case was reported from Kanpur where a local youth kidnapped and killed a six-year-old boy.
The boy, a resident of Barra area of Kanpur’s Hardev Nagar, was abducted from his house while he was playing.
Ayush Sonkar, son of Makhan Sonkar, went missing around 3 pm on Friday. His family launched a search before alerting Barra police, who also began searching for the missing child, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Deependra Nath Chowdhary said three police teams have been formed and CCTV footage of the area has been thoroughly examined.
“In the footage, Ayush was seen walking with a local youth, later identified as Shivam Saxena, who was later seen returning alone,” the officer said.
After an extensive search, the boy’s body was found. A forensic team examined the scene and the body was sent for post-mortem.
