The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has filed a complaint at the office of the Director General of Police (DGP) in Mangalagiri against what it called a “politically motivated campaign by the IVRS”, allegedly orchestrated by the ruling coalition to divert public attention from its involvement in the alleged illegal liquor racket that was exposed in Andhra Pradesh.
The complaint was filed by the cyber crime division on Friday by party leaders Jogi Ramesh, Velampalli Srinivas, Malladi Vishnu, MLC M. Arun Kumar, State Legal Cell President Manohar Reddy and NTR District President D. Avinash.
They sought a thorough and independent investigation and strict action against those responsible for the “smear campaign and liquor”.
Addressing the media later, Mr. Ramesh said the people of Andhra Pradesh were enraged over the fake liquor which exposed “the nexus of corruption and crime in the coalition government”.
He alleged that TDP and its allies were trying to divert attention by spreading lies through IVRS calls to defame YSRCP leaders. “If Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has the guts, let him order a CBI probe into the liquor,” he said, adding that he was ready for a lie detector test or narco analysis to prove his innocence.
Mr. Ramesh also blamed the “yellow media” for making baseless allegations linking him to liquor, describing it as an attempt at character assassination. Only Mr. Naidu and HRD Minister N. Lokesh were capable of such propaganda, the YSRCP leader alleged.
