Youth allegedly assaulted, robbed near Aluva railway station

A 28-year-old man was attacked and robbed by two unknown persons near Aluva railway station in the early hours of Sunday (September 13).

Jofin Jiju, 28, of Kodanad, was allegedly attacked while he was walking on the road near the goods platform around 3:30 am, according to an FIR registered by the Aluva police.

The youth was allegedly stoned and brutally assaulted by two men who then fled with ₹1,000 from a bag and a gold chain he was wearing, according to the FIR. The applicant suffered rib fractures in the attack.

The defendants were charged with voluntary assault with a dangerous weapon and robbery. Police said an investigation is underway.
