Housebreaking case: one held for stealing ₹40 in gold and silver

Police on Sunday arrested one person in connection with a theft case after he allegedly stole gold and silver ornaments worth about ₹40 crore, NTR district police said.

The accused H. Vinod Kumar, a recent engineering graduate, was addicted to vice and committed the theft at a locked house in Veterinary Colony, under Machavaram police station limits, on September 4, East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishna Kanth Patil said.

Following the complaint, the police verified the CCTV footage and pounced on Vinod Kumar, who confessed to the crime, the DCP said at a press conference in Vijayawada on Sunday.

The police recovered gold jewelery weighing about 350 grams and 230 grams of silver ornaments, Mr. Krishna Kanth said.
