Yamunanagar hospital and mall shootings: 3 youths, including 2 minors, arrested after clash with police | Today’s news

Three individuals, including two juveniles, were arrested on Sunday, February 8, in connection with two separate shooting incidents – one targeting a private hospital and the other outside a local mall in Yamunanagar district Haryanathe police said.

The suspects were nabbed after a confrontation with law enforcement agencies on Sunday morning near Kasanpur area of ​​Jamunanagar.

Police said there were no casualties in either incident.

“Initial investigations suggest that this case is related to extortion and creating an atmosphere of fear,” Superintendent of Police Kamal Deep Goyal told reporters.

The hospital owner was recently targeted for extortion by unidentified gang members, a threat that was formally reported to the police, sources told the news agency. PTI.

Two of the detainees are minors from Karnal district, while the third, identified as Gurlal Singh, is a resident of Kurukshetra.

Security camera footage captured three masked youths entering a private hospital on Saturday evening. Finding the reception empty, they discharged their weapons before fleeing.

Officials said the group fired approximately 13 to 14 shots inside the hospital, followed by three to four more shots outside the mall.

Goyal informed the media that after being alerted, the law enforcement agencies had set up several roadblocks and launched a search. On Sunday morning, the police nabbed the trio on a motorcycle while boxing near Kasanpur.

The suspects allegedly fired at the police. In the return fire, two of the youths sustained gunshot wounds, while the third was injured after hitting a motorcycle. All three were taken to hospital for treatment and subsequently taken into custody.

During the operation, police seized one foreign-made handgun and one locally-made pistol.

Opposition parties criticize Nayab Singh’s government

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala criticized the BJP administration over the alleged decline in public safety. He pointed out that the hospital had been threatened before, yet the attack took place.

Surjewala claimed that such incidents are becoming more common as criminals lose fear of the law.

AAP National Media Coordinator Anurag Dhanda also condemned the government for the violence.

“The Nayab Singh government has turned the entire state of Haryana into a playground for criminals YamunanagarCriminals in the city are firing guns without fear and extortion demands are being made from traders at various places,” Dhanda said in a post on social networking site X in Hindi.
