An anti-missile alert was declared in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday (local time), the first since the US and Iran agreed to a ceasefire on April 7.
Authorities urged residents to seek shelter immediately. The alert was issued shortly after the United States military announced that two merchant ships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier today, residents of the UAE received a missile warning: “Due to the current situation, potential missile threats, immediately seek a safe place in the nearest secure building, avoid windows, doors and open spaces. Wait for further instructions.”
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage and the all-clear was later given.
According to a Reuters report, the UAE Ministry of Interior later said people could return to their normal activities “while continuing to remain cautious and take the necessary precautions.”
This is a developing story. Further details were awaited.
