Former Great Britain Prime Minister Rishi Sunak joined his old Goldman Sachs company as an advisory role after his short stint as a member of the parliament. For Sunak, this refers to his first main position from resignation as the leader of the conservative party last year in July, Hindustan Times said.
David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs, announced his appointment, said, “I am excited to welcome Rishi back to Goldman Sachs in his new capacity as the leading advisor.”
“He will work in his role with leaders throughout the company to advise our clients around the world on a number of important topics, sharing his unique perspectives and knowledge of the macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape,” Solomon said.
However, Sunak’s return as a senior advisor to Goldman Sachs was marked by jokes and memes. Social media users took X and took a tab and asked to work 70 hours a week, as recommended by his father-in-law-founder Infosys Narayan Murtha.
According to the details, Sunak is married to Akshata Murta, the daughter of billionaire Infosys Narayan Murtha and his wife Sudha Murta.
Here are some memes:
One wrote on X: “Rishi Sunak joined Goldman Sachs to complete a quota of 70 hours of work a week.”
Another wrote: “When your father -in -law makes you work 70 hours a week.”
“I hope he will give his 70 hours a week and will not disappoint his son -in -law,” the third said.
Fourth wrote: “Will he work 70 hours a week?”
The fifth commented: “Perfect time to advise him to work 70 hours a week.”
The sixth user wrote: “I’m sure he will work 70 hours a week.”
“I don’t understand it. If you’re smart and rich, why work for Goldman Sachs instead of establishing a society …?” Written by the seventh user.
The ninth user said, “Imagine that you run the whole country as PM, just to strengthen your CV for the role of a senior advisor. Elite career planning.”
Sunak, who hired Goldman Sach’s, is not new because several politicians have taken positions in finance because companies consider them to be strategic assets.
