Actor and MP Kangana Ranaut hit out at Rahul Gandhi after the Congress protest held outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in Delhi last night. Rahul Gandhi, along with Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav were removed by the police as they demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation. Calling it a “security breach”, Ranaut disputed the opposition’s demands.
Kangana Ranaut attacks Rahul Gandhi over PM’s resignation demand
Speaking to ANI, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said, “Yesterday there was a huge security breach and Rahul Gandhi tried his best to direct the protestors to the Prime Minister’s residence. When there was a protest at Janpath, then why did Rahul Gandhi try to direct the protest to the Prime Minister’s residence?”
“This is a matter of great concern to the nation. You know how the protesters threatened and then Rahul Gandhi did it. This is a matter of great concern to all. For NEET, the government is making all efforts. Why should the PM resign? He is the most popular leader in the world,” she added.
Black Day protest in Parliament
Dressed in black in solidarity with protesting students, opposition parties arrived at Parliament today to protest the alleged influence of students on protests and the ongoing unrest over the education system.
Among them were Rahul Gandhi, Congress MPs KC Venugopal and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party MPs Akhilesh Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav and Awadhesh Prasad and others.
Priyanka Gandhi reacts
Commenting on the Congress protest outside Prime Minister Modi’s residence, Priyanka Gandhi claimed that debate on the ongoing issue of student protests is not allowed in Parliament.
“There is nothing undemocratic about it. What is happening in parliament and on the streets is undemocratic,” she said.
“Debate is not allowed in Parliament. The Leader of the Opposition is not allowed to speak and neither are the other leaders of the Opposition. Whenever they get up to speak, they are stopped,” Gandhi said at the Parliament House complex, as quoted by PTI.
“Government ready to discuss NEET paper leak”
Speaking to ANI, Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs of India, said that the government is ready to discuss the NEET paper leak issue.
“The government has today in parliament said that it is fully ready to discuss the NEET document leak and all related matters. From day one, we have said that the government is always ready to discuss any issue that is in the national interest and the interest of the youth. But there must be rules under which this discussion will take place… It wants to go straight to the streets and create a ruckus, that is not right. The discussion should be meaningful to test… that… The citizens have every right to know what further steps have been taken, if we don’t discuss it, how the citizens will receive the information, but we simply want all parties to sit with Mr. Speaker to decide on the discussion according to certain rules… The debate should be as long as it takes… The debate should start as soon as possible,” he said.
