
Wesley Lepatner, a manager of Global Investment Giant Blackstone Inc., was among the four people killed in bulk shooting at Manhattan on Monday evening. The shooting was among other companies at 345 Park Avenue, a company office tower, which is based at the headquarters of Blackstone and the National Football League (NFL).
Lepatner, 42, was, according to the Global Head of Core+ Real Estate and CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Incoming TRUST (Breit), according to the Global Core+ Real Estate. She joined the Blackstone in 2014 and quickly climbed the series to supervise one of the biggest divisions of the company.
Blackstone said in his statement, “We are broken to share that our colleague Wesley Lepatner was among those who lost their lives in a tragic incident. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be very missing.”
Career trailblazing
Before joining Blackstone, Lepatner spent more than ten years in Goldman Sachs, where she worked as CEO in the Group of Investment in Real Estate Investment In the Asset Administration division. She started her career in the field of investment areas of real estate investment and investment group of investment.
In Blackstone, Lepatner played a central role in expanding the company to plus a real estate strategy that includes investment in rental housing, data centers and logistics assets. At the beginning of this year, she was appointed CEO Breit, trust in real estate investment.
Lepatner also held a chair at the Blackstone Real Estate Investment Committee and previously worked as the Chief Operations Director of Core Core+ Business and Breit.
Graduate Yale and Civic Leader
Lepatner, a graduate of Yale University with BA in history, was also active in civil and cultural institutions. She worked on the Boards of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Abraham Joshua Heschel School, Uja-Federation in New York and Yale University Library Council. She was also a member of the Governor Advisory Board, a leading association for real estate investment funds.
In 2023 she was honored at UJA-Federation.
Tragic shooting
According to police, 27 -year -old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas entered the 345 Avenue Park around 19:00 on Monday armed with an assault rifle. He started fire and killed four people, including adhesive and NYPD officer NYPD.
Lepatner was reportedly fatally shot.
The authorities argue that Tamura had a documented medical history of mental illnesses and left behind a harsh note referring to NFL and CTE brain disease (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), which was associated with repeated head trauma in contact sports. While the motif has not been officially determined, investigators are investigating whether the presence of the NFL in the building was a factor in the attack.
The NFL worker was also seriously injured during the shooting and remains in critical condition. The shooter later went to the 33th floor.
Society in sadness
Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman and President Jon Gray addressed employees on Monday evening on Monday and called it “the worst day in the 40 -year history”.
Wesley Lepatner remember her colleagues as “brilliant, passionate, warm, generous and deeply respected”.
“She was one of the brightest talents in our field and a respected part of the Blackstone family,” the company spokesman said. “Our hearts are with her family, friends and all who were affected by this nonsensical violent act.”
