Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad on Thursday and killed 241 out of 242 people on board. Gatwick from Ahmedabad flew to London. The accident is the first fatal accident, including the Boeing 787 since it entered service in 2009, and one of the worst tragedies in Indian air history.
The accident turned to the reflector back to John Barnett, a former Boeing quality control manager who, as the police says, died suicide after lawyers asked him about his whistle for alleged jumbo nozzle defects.
Who was John Barnett?
Barnett was born on February 23, 1962 in California and graduated from Bolton High School and moved to Louisiana with his mother and three older brothers after the separation of his parents.
Barnett was a taxi driver before joining the US Air Force, the NDTV report said. Later he joined Rockwell International in Palmdale, California, where he worked on parts of the Space Space Shuttle NASA, including the Atlantis orbiter.

In the age of 80 Barnett worked as an electrician on the bomber B-1 Lancer. In 1988, after settling on the island of Camano in Washington, he joined Boeing as a quality inspector. Until 2010 he worked at the Boeing’s South Carolina in North Charleston, an assembly line for 787 Dreamliner.
What were the safety of which Barnett identified?
Barnett, a long -time Boeing employee, shared his security concerns with journalists after retiring in 2017. He also recorded problems up to a quarter of oxygen systems on 787 Boeing aircraft, said AP.
Between 2010 and 2017, Barnett said that there was a constant decline in security protocols at the North Charleston plant. According to him, employees were under pressure to overlook defects and meet production quotas, added the NDTV report.
Barnett also claimed that some parts were missing or not properly recorded during the building process, indicating poor security checks, among other things, concerns about how Boeing built his aircraft.
In 2017, he filed formal complaints in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the safety and health management of work at work (OSHA). FAA confirmed certain problems he emphasized and ordered Boeing to correct them. Osha later dismissed his claim and decided in favor of Boeing in 2021, the decision was dismissed Barnett, the report said.
According to AP Barnett, he shared his concerns with his superiors and others before leaving the boeing, but according to the trial filed with his family against the aircraft manufacturer, they responded by ignoring him and then harassing him.
In 2019, Barnett was with his accusations in media interviews. According to the police, a 62 -year -old man shot himself on March 9, 2024 in Charleston after answering the questions of lawyers for several days. He lived in Louisiana.
