Who is Abhijeet Dipke? Inside the viral movement Schwab Janta Party

On May 16, 30-year-old Abhijeet Dipke posted a Google Form on the X website inviting people to sign up for “Janta cockroach party” — a satirical political outfit born the day after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant drew criticism for his “cockroach” remark.

Although Chief Justice Kant later clarified that his oral observation was aimed at those who use fake degrees to enter professions such as law and the media, and not at unemployed youths, the remark has already struck a nerve online. Within hours, Abhijeet received more than 5,000 sign-ups, turning the internet joke into an unofficial organization channeling public discontent, humor and political frustration.
