Onam 2025: Onam is a favorable regional festival celebrated mainly in Kerala and denotes the end of the monsoon and the beginning of the harvest. When is Onam 2025?
Onam is a ten -day festival celebrated in the Chingam month of Malayalam calendar, which usually decreases between August and September. The festivities begin on the day of Atham, when Atham Nakshatra is present, and lasts 10 days, the climax on Thiruvonama, the main day. Onam 2025: Mythological meaning
Onam refers to the return of the then King Mahabali or Maveli, who, according to mythology, was known as a generous and virtuous ruler. During his reign, the kingdom was so prospering that Devas was jealous, partly because King Mahabali was Asura, a member of the clan who was the enemies of Devas. As a result, they sent Lord Vishnu, disguised as Vaman (Dwarf), King Mahabali.
The generous king Mahabali offered three feet of the earth to Vaman. As she measured Vaman, he grew so big that he measured all the worlds in two steps. Mahabali placed him nowhere, asked him to put him on his head.
Vaman pleased his benevolence and blessed Mahabali by allowing him to visit his items once a year, which is an opportunity celebrated like onam with all kerite.
