Cyberabad traffic police have seen a constant increase in traffic violations through the WhatsApp service “Message violation”, with more than 60% of complaints to reserved cases. The ministry’s data revealed that 18,685 cases were booked between 1 January and 13 May from 2025, which led to the production of Chalans worth 75 lakh.
This initiative led to a consistent increase in cases booked with the first ten violations increasing from 35,777 in 2023 to 43,814 in 2024. 98,276 cases have been registered since 2023.
Among the highest violations of this year’s “stop in the wheelchair” according to section 122 of the Act on Motor Vehicles (MV), the list reached 9,667 cases. Then “incorrect or unauthorized parking/obstacle of road” pursuant to Section 190 (2), 3,800 violations and “less control helmet” according to Section 129 with 2,627 cases were 3,800.
Other violations include “incorrect side control, in particular two and three wheels, according to Section 119 – with 1 120 cases,” dangerous driving “according to section 184 with 1,087 cases,” incorrect parking in the road “according to section 122 with 356 cases,” mobile phones “according to section 184 with 303 cases and” triple driving “according to section 128 with 235.
Recently, the Department shared Helling Line No. 94906 17346 on X and urged citizens to send photos and videos of traffic violation through WhatsApp.
While the public involvement in the publication report has increased, officials note that many complaints have submitted sufficient details for the next steps. Inspector Raidurgam for transport Ganesh Patel pointed out that a significant amount of photos shared by the complainant lacks key elements such as time stamps or indicators of clear placement.
“In order to effectively process the complaint, the photo must clearly show where the violation occurred. In many cases, the vehicle number is not clear, which makes Challan’s release more difficult for the system,” he said. All photographs are uploaded to an automated system that generates Chalans based on an identified violation type.
The department now receives a growing number of videos showing auto-ricker drivers watching videos, car drivers make video calls while driving, and individuals block the free left, leading to a traffic jam, he added the official.
