
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded on Tuesday with the highest civilian prize in Brazil, a large collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross.
The honor was presented by Brazilian President Luiz Lula Da Silva, as recognition of significant contributions to PM Modi to strengthen bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in India in Brazil across key global platforms.
“Being honored by the highest National Prize in Brazil today is a moment of immense pride and emotion, not only for me, but also for 140 Crore Indians,” Modi told Lula after their interviews at the delegation level.

Later, in a post on the social media, Modi said that the price illustrates the strong affection that people in Brazil have for Indian people.

This is the 26th International Honor awarded by PM Modim by a foreign government since in May 2014 it was taken over by the office.
