VIZIANAGARAM:
Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy said on Thursday that the district is expected to witness rapid industrial growth in the near future as investors show renewed interest in the district due to the availability of vast land, manpower and natural resources.
He hoped that the investors attending the CII partnership summit in Visakhapatnam recognize the strategic advantages of Vizianagaram and its proximity to the port city.
Speaking to The Hindu on Thursday, the Collector said, “North Andhra region has become an attractive destination with the availability of both government and vacant private land that can be acquired under existing laws and procedures.”
He further stated that, “We have nearly 3,000 acres in various parts of the district. The district administration has also identified other land suitable for software industry, agribusiness and other sectors. The land available in and around Bhogapuram International Airport offers road and air connectivity, which increases the district’s appeal to potential investors.”
Mr. Ramsundar said the government would try to create more jobs and livelihood opportunities in the agriculture sector as well. “We are trying to promote horticulture crops in a big way as it offers a better source of income for farmers and others. As a first step, the government will encourage farmers to grow commercial crops in the Rabi season as many fields remain fallow after the Kharif season,” he said.
He assured that the government will ensure proper marketing facilities for agricultural produce including vegetables, leafy greens, fruits and others.
