‘Vishwaguru claims but…’: Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal hit out at PM Modi over CUET-UG 2026 exam delay | Today’s news

Several opposition leaders hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioned the education system after the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026 timing was revised following technical glitches at centers across the country on Friday.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi noted that the delay in the CUET-UG exam comes on the heels of the ongoing NEET ‘paper leak’ controversy and CBSE OSM irregularities controversy.

“NEET. CBSE. SSC. And today CUET. Four exams. One million kids. Not a single one was fair. Claiming ‘vishwa guru’ but can’t conduct a single exam in the country – Modi has completely destroyed the entire education system,” Rahul Gandhi wrote on X.

He said: “The generation whose future you destroy – that same generation will hold you accountable.”

Meanwhile, the Congress released a video on X showing the barking outside the CEUT test center. The party said, “It is now clear that conducting exams without cheating and disorder is beyond the capabilities of the Modi government.”

“This is the failure of Narendra Modi and Dharmendra Pradhan, the consequences of which are borne by the children and their parents. The entire system has failed under the Modi government,” the party added.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has highlighted the “serious disruption” that could be caused due to the revision of CUET exam timings. He said, “Multiple reports are reporting that some technical glitch has delayed the start of the CUET exam at several centers in Delhi, Noida, Ambala, Varanasi, Bangalore, Kanpur and others.

He asked: “If some students get access to the exam at 9.30am while others at 11.30am. Doesn’t that constitute a serious breach?”

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal also alerted Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the disruption of CUET-UG 2026.

In a post on X, Kejriwal wrote, “The country needs an educated prime minister,” responding to AAP leader Atishi’s post highlighting the difficulties faced by students at an examination center in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.

Former Delhi principal Atishi reposted a message from a social media user who claimed that students at the Shetala Institute of Technology in Lohta, Varanasi could not start their exam on time due to server issues.

Atishi shared the post and wrote, “Visuals of CUET exam center from Varanasi. Students told server down.”

According to a post on social media, the examination was supposed to start at 9:00 AM and end at 10:00 AM, but due to technical problems at the center, it did not even start at 10:50 AM.

what exactly happened

The statement by the opposition leaders came after reports of technical glitches delaying examinations at several CUET centers across the country on Friday, raising concerns among students and parents.

Later, the National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed that the CUET-UG 2026 faced blackouts at some centers on May 30 due to a technical glitch reported by its service provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

In an official statement released on X, the NTA said the delay mainly affected candidates scheduled for the exam and clarified that the problem arose at the vendor’s end.

“M/s TCS has advised that a technical glitch at their end has delayed the commencement of CUET (UG) 2026 at some centers on 30/05/2026. The issue has since been resolved and the examination is being conducted with full compensation so that no candidate is disadvantaged,” the agency said.

The NTA revised the schedule for the afternoon shifts and directed candidates to report from 2.30 pm, with the exam starting at 4 pm instead of the originally scheduled 3 pm.

The agency also said that candidates for the morning session were given the full length of the exam and were only allowed to leave after completing their written papers.

The NTA expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to students and parents and said measures were being taken to avoid similar disruptions in future examinations.
