Momos, popular dumplings originally from Tibet and Nepal, underwent transformation in India. Once a niche street food is now a popular variant of refreshments and food throughout the country – available in countless varieties such as steamed, fried, tandoori and even in sauce. But at a time when bizarre food combinations become norm, one new variant has shifted the boundaries of culinary creativity – Litchi Grava Momos.
A video shared on Instagram by a street food dealer based in Delhi has triggered online extended reactions online after the preparation and service of this unusual food has been seen.
The video opens with a seller who makes a sauce. It repeats some vegetables in a pan and then adds the juice of the litchi along with a mixture of Indian spices. It continues to add pieces of litchi and fried MAMOS, cooking everything together than it serves customers.
When the clip was spreading online, food lovers took the comment section to express their horror. One user wrote: “The Supreme Court of Ye Sab NaDi Dekh Rahi Hai Kya (Supreme Court follows it?”
Others commented: “Isko Khaane to Baad Hospital Jaana Hai Ya Toas (I have to go to the hospital or toilet after meals).” Someone else simply asked, “Aakhir Kyu (why).”
The shocked user said: “PAAP Lagega, Garud Puran Mai Alag Sajha Hai Isisse (will lead to sin, in Garuda Puran is a description).
Another reaction was: “Please stop this deadly experiment with Momo. It hurts my eye, tongue, soul everything.” One user summed it up: “
Others repeated the same sentiment with strong words. “Merko Trauma Ho Gaya Ye Dekh K (I see it),” the commentator wrote. Another added: “Bhai Narak Mei Bhi Jagah nai Milegi Tumhe (you don’t even get a place in hell, brother).”
While the street eating scene in India is still evolving with bold innovations, this particular creature seems to be for many online for many online.
