Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)’s confidence in actor C. Joseph Vijay to go it alone in his debut assembly election after failing to attract allies despite a power-sharing offer and his repeated positioning of the contest as the only contest between TVK and DMK have paid off handsomely.
The fledgling party pushed the DMK and AIADMK to second and third place, winning 107 of the 233 seats it contested, while finishing second with 76 seats and third with 50 seats.
