Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Tilak Varma: Where to Watch Duleep Trophy Final in India
East Zone will take on South Zone in the final of the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy, with the battle for the title starting on September 6 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The match will continue till September 10 as both teams battle it out for the prestigious silverware of domestic cricket.
Eastern Zone reached the summit clash after overcoming defending champions Central Zone by four wickets in a thrilling semi-final in Bengaluru. Both teams were locked for 266 in their respective first innings but East Zone turned the match in their favor with a commanding bowling effort in the second leg by Central.
Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar led the charge, taking seven wickets between them as Central Zone were dismissed for just 158. East needed 159 to win.
The chase got off to a positive start with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi contributing a quick 40 alongside Abhimanyu Easwaran. A brief collapse then threatened to derail East’s chase, but skipper Ishan Kishan remained composed and finished unbeaten on 39 to lead his side over the line with four wickets still in hand.
South Zone clinched their final spot with a convincing seven-wicket win over North Zone. Their campaign was largely driven by skipper Tilak Varma, who produced a crucial unbeaten 116 in the first innings of the semi-final to put South in the lead.
The venue adds another layer of meaning to the East Zone campaign. Chennai was the venue for their last Duleep Trophy triumph in 2012-13 when they beat Central Zone on the back of a first innings lead in a tie.
East Zone scored 232 in that final before dismissing Central for 189, building a 43-run advantage. The win marked East’s second consecutive Duleep Trophy title and they will now return to the same ground hoping to repeat the feat after a 13-year wait for another finals appearance.
