Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed the fastest List A record 50 off 11 balls; internet reacts: ‘Sri Lanka messed with the wrong…’ | Today’s news

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s performance on Sunday 22nd June was a blockbuster. The young batsman scored the fastest List A fifty during the final of the Tri-Nation Series against Sri Lanka A, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne’s record of 12 fifties in 2005. The 15-year-old batsman’s sensational 11-ball fifty took the internet by storm.

The left-hander from Bihar missed out on the fastest ever List A century but made history by hitting the fastest ever half-century at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The youngster smashed 94 off 29 balls, missing Australian Jake Fraser-McGurk’s record of just 29 balls. Impressed by Sooryavanshi’s blistering knock, social media reacted strongly to the 10 fours and eight sixes in the opener that gave India a flying start in the series finale after the Sri Lanka A skipper won the toss and opted to bowl. Vaibhav hit only three singles and scored 94 off 29 balls.

A remarkable moment came when Sooryavanshi smashed his fifth 6 of the innings against left-arm seamer Dulaj Samudith.

Reaction on social networks

As memes, jokes and praises poured in online, a user wrote: VAIBHAV SOORYAVANSHI GET REVENGE ON SRI LANKA IN GRAND FINAL. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed 50 in just 11 balls and is now playing at 400 for 65. The Sri Lankan players now know what they did wrong.”

Another user commented, “Srilanka A played with the wrong man. Vaibhav Suryavanshi is being beaten left right and center by Srilanka A. Bro smashed the fastest 50 in just 11 balls. He missed the hundred by just one hit. He was going to make history by breaking the fastest hundred list but got out. Well played Vaibhav, young goatvanshi, young goatvanshi.” After Sooryavanshi’s dismissal, Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella congratulated the young batsman for his masterstroke.

A third user said: “Sri Lanka A thought they were playing the final. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi thought it was a rematch.”

A fourth comment read: “The Sri Lankan players realized what a grave mistake they made that day by provoking this boy. They lost 94 balls for just 29 in the final. They missed out on another century but showed that there is only one BOSS….BABY BOSS.”

Many users online referred to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s clash with Sri Lanka’s Vishen Halambag, who engaged in a heated exchange a few days ago. The incident dates back to June 15 when there was intense drama on the field after Sri Lanka A defeated India A in the Super Over final. Suyansh Shedge tried to intervene and pull Sooryavanshi out of the argument. Finally, Niroshan Dickwell separated them.
