US-Iran War News LIVE Update: Will US ‘Blow Up’ Iran? Trump hints at new strikes, says US faces choice | Today’s news
US-Iran War News Update: President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the war with Iran will end “very soon.” He told reporters at the White House: “We have to make a decision: we’re going to blow them up or we’re going to make a deal.”
Trump said the United States had lost 18 people in the Iran war, compared to about 4,500 American dead in Iraq, according to Iran International. “We lost 18 people, great people. To lose one is too many,” he said.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also told military leaders at the Quantico Marine base outside Washington, DC that US forces had “destroyed” Iran’s navy, air force, defense systems, leadership and military-industrial capabilities while crippling its nuclear ambitions.
Meanwhile, Axios reported on Wednesday, citing sources, that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his delegation to leave New York on Monday after talks between the US and Iran stalled.
“Secretary Rubio kicked out the Iranian delegation for overstaying its welcome. The UN General Assembly is over, so it’s time for them to leave,” a US official told Axios.
Araghchi and his delegation left for the airport a few hours later and flew to Doha early on Tuesday. A second source told Axios that Araghchi was already scheduled to leave Monday night.
