- A spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, quoted by Iran’s ISNA news agency, said Tehran would communicate its response. US President Donald Trump said he believes Iran wants a deal, Reuters reported.
- “They want to make a deal. We’ve had very good conversations over the last 24 hours, and it’s very possible we’ll get a deal,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday.
- Earlier in the day, Trump sounded more pessimistic about the chances of a deal. In the Truth Social post, he threatened to restart the US bombing campaign in Iran, calling the possibility of Tehran agreeing to the latest US proposal a “big assumption”.
- News of a potential deal sent global oil prices sharply lower, with benchmark Brent crude futures plunging about 11% to two-week lows near $98 a barrel before rebounding above $100, Reuters reported.
- Global stocks also surged while bond yields fell on hopes that the war, which has disrupted energy supplies, could soon end.
