
A purported video showing a teacher getting a foot massage from students during school hours in Uttar Pradesh’s Chitrakoot district has gone viral on social media. A suspension notice was issued to the teacher shortly after the video surfaced. The incident reportedly took place at a government school in Naya Bazar, Karbi, where a woman, Madhu, worked as a principal, The Times of India reported.
In the video, the director is said to be lying comfortably on the floor while watching the video. One student, wearing her school uniform and sitting on a bench, is seen massaging her feet as the other girls look on as the headmistress appears to be enjoying her free time.
What steps have the authorities taken?
Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) BK Sharma told TOI that after noticing the video, he sent a team to the school on Friday to check. But the teacher was reportedly on medical leave.
“I have suspended her based on the inspection report in which the students alleged that she used to go for regular massages at their place,” Sharma said, informing that Madhu was set to retire in a few years. The director denied the allegations and claimed that the video was edited using AI tools. he said.
A similar incident reported earlier in Andhra Pradesh
In a similar incident, a video of a teacher getting a foot massage from students in a classroom in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district went viral last year. The teacher was suspended after the clip surfaced online.
The video showed the teacher lying on a chair with her legs outstretched, while two girls in school uniform could be seen on the floor at her feet.
While the teacher sat comfortably talking on her cell phone, students showed up to give her foot and leg massages.
The incident was reported from Bandapalli Tribal Girls Ashram School in Srikakulam district.
The matter was soon brought to the attention of the authorities, including Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) project manager Seethampeta Pawar Swapnil Jagannath.
“A show-cause notice has already been issued to the concerned teacher,” Jagannath said in response to the reports. “An official inquiry into the entire incident has also been ordered to establish the facts and ensure that appropriate disciplinary action is taken,” Jagannath said.
