Rohit has been in attendance for every match of India’s ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 and all set to participate in the final on Sunday, March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After completing his duties as a brand ambassador, Rohit will immediately be seen in the IPL, which is scheduled for the last week of March.
Rohit’s last appearance was in the ODI series against the New Zealand national cricket team where he had a poor performance scoring just 61 runs in three innings. He previously scored two half-centuries in the ODI series against the South African national cricket team and was also named the player of the series against the Australian national cricket team, despite India’s 1–2 series defeat.
He finished as the leading run-scorer of the series with 202 runs from three innings, including a match-winning 121* (125) in the third ODI in Sydney. Talks about Rohit’s future in ODIs gained momentum after his modest returns in the recent series against New Zealand.
Will Rohit Sharma play till 2027?
Additionally, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century in the third ODI against South Africa fueled the debate about him becoming a regular in the 50-over format. However, Rohit has expressed his desire to continue till the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup and chase the top prize in the format he grew up praying for.
After leading India to the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 where they suffered a heartbreaking defeat at home against Australia, the veteran opener seems driven to make one last shot at glory on the biggest stage.
