The Tamil government has asked the Union’s government to set up an excellence for artificial intelligence (AI) in Tamil Nadu in Tamil Nadu (October 10, 2025).
At the global starting summit, he said that the state government wanted to accept AI to improve the functioning of the government and to start talking to different departments. He then identified a set of services that can be automated using AI.
“We want to have an open AI data platform, which we provide to startups that can come up with models,” he said. The information technology department has been released with four tools and is working on 26 others and there are some models that will be used with existing tools. For example, through the e-Parvai application, AI is used to screen patients for cataract. Similarly, AI is used in Uzhavan to verify the entry of crop data.
The department plans to release whatsApp to complete the services of e-Seva centers and eventually become a chatbot.
The state government has slightly more than 500 subsidies programs and 370 of them are good data. “We want to use good data and better access and better models and automation. When we start doing them, the next step is to improve citizens and government interfaces,” he said, talking about how the IT department used AI to provide better public services.
