Two illegal dumping sites seized, shortage of sand affects housing beneficiaries in Indiramma
Two huge sand dumps at different places in Kothapalli mandal of Karimnagar district have been seized by the task force personnel of the Karimnagar Police Commissionerate.
Acting on a tip-off, a police task force led by Deputy Commissioner of Police V Satish conducted surprise raids in Ramulapalli and Shanthinagar on Tuesday.
Police uncovered illegal sand dumping sites and seized nearly 80 laden tractors of sand from two locations.
Vigilance has been stepped up in the Manair river basin and elsewhere in the district to curb illegal sand mining and transportation.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Congress leaders led by Karimnagar City Congress president V Anjan Kumar on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to revenue officials seeking urgent steps to resolve the shortage of sand for the construction of Indiramma houses.
The Congress delegation consisted of several corporators of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
The delegation highlighted the difficulties of the beneficiaries of houses in Indiramma due to lack of sand and sought immediate measures to solve the problem.
